Taqueria Chapala Jalisco - Authentic Mexican Cuisine in San Antonio, TX

Every time we go to Taqueria Chapala, we walk away with a smile, a full tummy and a really reasonable bill. Often we will get their special of the day and we serve you plenty of food. They have a great variety of dishes, fresh flavors, and great service. We try to eat here every time we come from Colorado.

I noticed this place has not had an updated review in awhile so I want to weigh in after our meal last night. I can reassure everyone that this place has great food and great prices and great service. Saturday night at 8pm I was worried they would be too busy but it was not bad. Got chips and salsa fast (and nacho cheese cup). Jalisco burrito and chalapa burrito were good solid food. Definitely keep this place on your short list!

Friendly service and generous portions. I tried something new today and had the carne guisada. It was OK but had a strange smell to it. I doused it in hot sauce and it was ok but I couldn't get past the smell. I ended up eating half of my mom's carne asada since the plate is so plentiful. That was delicious as usual. I'll stick with my carne asada next time. The guisada wasn't bad tasting. It was decent but I've had better. It's just the smell... can't explain it. For 7.99 I won't complain about it. It's a steal for the portion size.

This is one of my favorite go-to Tex-Mex restaurants in NE San Antonio. Quality food, service, prices in a pleasant atmosphere. i've been here several times and they haven't "missed" yet. That's always a good sign that you are in good hands.

You need to know this place is poppin! We came on Sunday around 10am and barely any tables but service was flowing, they are expanding from what it looks like, can't wait to see the inside when done. This is 100% worth the wait, we got ours to go and ate in the car! I got a bean and chorizo taco and a barbacoa taco. (I tore the chorizo and bean up I didn't even get a picture ) My husband got the menudo and taco special with a chicharrón and salsa taco. This menudo is so flavorful OMG, he added in jalapeños and that spicy came through amazingly with so much meat! I got a horchata too, my fav, so yummy!

Called In an order early on Saturday morning. The tacos were thick and the bacon was thick!! We also tried the barbacoa and were so happy that it was NOT a greasy mess. It's a great taco spot in the area and the salsa is worth trying!!

I can see by my previous review, it's been 4 years since I'd been here. Recently retired to the PNW, I have truly missed great Mexican food. And, to me, this place does it better than anyone. It's the third time I've been here and it's always, consistently delicious meals. Today, I was there for a hearty breakfast - I ordered the chorizo & eggs plate. It came with refried beans, fried potatoes, choice of tortillas and (REALLY good) coffee. The plate arrived quick as a whip and it was piping hot! The chorizo was oh-so-freakin' good and an ample portion of it in ratio to the egg. The beans were equally tasty, as were also the potatoes; crispy and fluffy on the inside. Service is always top shelf. They get your order quick, drinks quick, food quick. They're friendly and efficient - three times I was asked if I wanted more coffee, even after my third cup. Just can't beat that level of service. And, like always, prices are VERY reasonable - even when everyone else is almost doubling their prices, Taqueria Chapala has barely raised theirs. Now I wish I DID live here! But I'm coming back tomorrow, for sure, before I leave town.
